Re: WTA 125 "L&T Mumbai Open", Mumbai, Feb 2025

It’s going to be tough to win a match, especially against a player like today if you only get 38% of your first serves in. Yes, Maaya's first serve % has been in the range of 35 to 45% in all the matches that I have seen. Maybe to improve she may have to sacrifice on some speed on serve which proba...

Re: Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi thread

Selection for this year's BJK cup Asia Oceania qualifiers ( to be held in Pune in first week of April) is going to be tough for selectors. All 7 mentioned above will be in contention along with our current doubles #1 Prarthana Thombre for 5 spots in the team.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread

I watched the first set of that Sumit match and he missed 2 set points at 5-4, 40-15 on opponent serve, else this match could have finished in straight sets. Sumit appears good but lot more errors than usual in that set. It looks like he came back strong in second set. From the stats of third set, i...

Re: Manas Dhamne thread

Excellent couple of wins by Manas today to make it his first pro final. He is getting close to getting into junior slams with his ATP singles rankigs now. One needs to be in top 750 to directly get into junior grand slam main draws and top 850 to get into qualifying draws. With 22 points now, Manas ...

Re: Sumit Nagal thread

Sumit is playing Buenos Aires ATP 250 qualifying. He is 4th seed in qualifying and plays local wild card Juan Pablo Ficovich ranked 183. Ficovich is another strong clay player and has won both his matches against Sumit thus far although both the matches were in 2019 and 2021. So, it is another tough...

Re: Indian Challengers 2025

RamK and Saketh upset the top seeds Ray Ho and Mathew Romios 76(5) 76(8) to make it the final at Chennai Challenger. Second seeds Jeevan and VSP got upset though by Japanese pair of Kaito Useugi and Shintaro Mozhizuki in the SF 8-10 in the super tie break.

Re: WTA 125 "L&T Mumbai Open", Mumbai, Feb 2025

^^^ Yes, I saw that. I also saw that you mentioned that other players adjust and come back. I think that is what happens most of the time. The player who loses the first set, tries extra hard at least at the start of the second set and player who has won the first set is a bit relaxed. It may be a m...

But, most likely he will miss the Delhi challenger now unless he gets a main draw wild card.

Re: WTA 125 "L&T Mumbai Open", Mumbai, Feb 2025

Leading 5-1 in the third set. Close it out Maaya! Done and dusted. 6-2 in the third set. I just hope that she does not play so many three setters where she is losing the second set. That puts a toll on her body. She is young and fit and will recover quickly. But, still. Hope the coach is finding ou...

Re: WTA 125 "L&T Mumbai Open", Mumbai, Feb 2025

I do not know who is coaching Shrivalli currently, I think it was Vishal Uppal till some time back.

But, I agree that she has the weapons ( Serve, forehand) to be even a top 100 player of some things are worked on.

Re: WTA 125 "L&T Mumbai Open", Mumbai, Feb 2025

Left handed former top 25 player proved too strong for Shrivalli.

[QF] (WC) Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamidipaty (IND,325) l. Jil Techmann (SUI,117) 26 26

Still, a very good run by Shrivalli again in Mumbai like last year.
