Re: $50K(+H) Chennai Challenger, 12-18 Feb. 2018

I could only watch first few games of third set when Yuki made a fantastic comeback from 0-3 down to 3-3. He looked much the better player in those games. Sad that he just missed in continuing that momentum towards a win. Someone posted on twitter that he was clutching his shoulder in the end. Hope ...

Re: Ankita Raina thread

That is a pretty good scoreline against current top 50 and former 5 player.

Ankita's game certainly appears to be on upswing from late last year.Hope she continues to play this way and ranking will follow upwards.

Re: $50K(+H) Chennai Challenger, 12-18 Feb. 2018

Damn, Yuki won 1 more point in the match than Thompson but lost the key points.

And this loss is going to hurt him as it would have taken him back to top 100 . Now he will have to wait for that for some more time.

Re: Snehadevi Reddy thread

Sneha could not continue her good run. At $15K ITF Women, Mallorca, Spain [QF] Snehadevi S REDDY (IND, UNR) l. (5) Irene BURILLO ESCORIHUELA (ESP,441) 26 36 Still a very good run by Snehadevi where she beat 5 Spanish players including her career best win. Unfortunately, due to today's loss she will ...

Re: Vishnu Vardhan/N. Sriram Balaji (pair) thread

Their 4th challenger title together. Vishnu- Bala have won as many 13 futures titles together. Hope in next few weeks they dominate the challenger circuit like they did at futures level last year. If they are able to replace their futures title points last year with challenger title points in next f...

Re: $50K(+H) Chennai Challenger, 12-18 Feb. 2018

Jordan Thompson wins his semi final. Now, he is at 98 in live rankings and Yuki at 101. If Yuki wins tomorrow he will overtake Jordan inside top 100.

[F] (2) Yuki Bhambri (IND,112) vs. (1) Jordan Thompson (AUS,107)

Tough match with a top 100 place at stake.

Re: $50K(+H) Chennai Challenger, 12-18 Feb. 2018

Yes, he is close to being back in top 100. Jordan Thompson who is the top seed here in Chennai is just behind him and will be playing his semi final now against the Spaniard Pedro Martinez. If Thompson too wins his SF and moves to the final, he will overtake Yuki in the live rankings. If he loses, Y...

Re: $50K(+H) Chennai Challenger, 12-18 Feb. 2018

Yuki is up a break leading 3-1 in the second set. Still no breakpoints on his own serve although he was taken to deuce in his last service game. Yuki had a chance for another break at 40-30 but Lee holds for 2-3. Yuki holds at 15 for 4-2. His second serve winning % is staggering 85%. better than fir...

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup

It is good intention of ITF to make these make these regional games competitive. But, the dates for the Asian games tennis event this year clashes with US open. Asian games tennis runs from 19th to 29th August while US open starts from 27th August. So, it will be a dilemma for the Asian players as t...

Re: Davis Cup 2018 - India

Saketh played in Chennai challenger this week. We don't know how good Rohan-Divij will be together because they have never played together. This is Mahesh's view on the tie - We have the depth and experience: Mahesh Bhupathi Mahesh said that the new format may make it difficult at the zonal level, b...

Re: Snehadevi Reddy thread

Sneha comes up with a big upset in second round. At $15K ITF Women, Mallorca, Spain [R2] Snehadevi S REDDY (IND, UNR) d. (2) Estrella CABEZA-CANDELA (ESP,343) 63 46 62 I think his career best win for Snehadevi. Great to see her getting back to form after a long time. [QF] Snehadevi S REDDY (IND, UNR...

Re: Davis Cup 2018 - India

Our players, Yuki in particular have generally played well on outdoor courts in China in challenger. So, this is good news. Having shorter best of 3 matches will be a bit of a challenge. Generally better players win over longer best of 5 set matches. Over short matches, there are greater chances of ...

Re: $50K(+H) Chennai Challenger, 12-18 Feb. 2018

And this time he does not falter like first set and holds at 15. [QF] (2) Yuki Bhambri (IND,112) d . (6) Yasutaka Uchiyama (JPN,222) 57 62 64 A match in which he was clearly a much better player and should have finished in straight sets. But, bad patch of 3 games at the end of first set cost him.
