Re: European Challengers 2025

Jeevan-VSP have also entered Girona Challenger. So, we have 6 Indians players in doubles draw there- 2 all Indian pairs-RamK/Saketh, Jeevan/VSP, Anirudh and Niki with their respective partners.

Sumit is the only one playing bigger Naples Challenger. So, we will have discuss his performance in his ...

Re: BWF European Series tournaments- Feb/March 2025

Tresa/Gayatri lost against world #1 Chinese team after winning the first 21-15. They lost the next 2 games 15-21 12-21.

Still encouraging to see them getting close to top level. I saw their last 2 matches, a couple of years back I had thought that Gayatri Gopichand is weaker link in this pair, but ...

Re: M15/M25- Chandigarh/Ahmedabad/Bengaluru-March 2025

Yes, encouraging performance for sure by Aryan as Jay Clarke is ranked in top 300 and has now won back to back title dropping only 2 sets on the way ( one of which was to Aryan).

Hope he breaks to top 500 in ATP rankings soon to get into that ATP accelerator program which gives 8 challenger main ...

Re: Yuki Bhambri

Yes, after more than 5 years, Rohan surrenders his India #1 position in doubles. Now, I think he will find it tough to regain it.

Yuki is now #29 in live rankings but quite a few below him who are still alive. So, probably needs to win at least 1 more match to retain this top 30 ranking in next ...

Re: European Challengers 2025

^^^ I think RamK has more or less made up his mind now to focus more on double, he will play singles qualies at challengers wherever he can. Once he gets to a ranking level in doubles which will get him into ATP tour in doubles, give up singles altogether.

No first hand information but I think ...

Both the pairs lost in the SF in straight sets. :-(

RamK will be back with Saketh next week at Girona Challenger Anirudh and Niki will also be there with their respective partners.

Re: BWF European Series tournaments- Feb/March 2025

Sankar Muthuswamy could not follow up on his upset and lost to 31st ranked Christo Popov 10-21, 14-21 in the QF of Swiss open. So, unless these youngsters show consistency, top 20 ranking is still a bit far.

Tresa/Gayatri justfied their 4th seeding though by reaching the SF with an easy straight ...

Re: Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi thread

If she has to come back to India for Billie Jenes cup as reserved player, mostly she would not be able to play any tournament before cut-off rankings, if I understand correctly

The cut-off date for French open juniors entry is 29th April. So, even if Maaya has to come back to India for BJKC ...

Re: Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi thread

^^^It is based on girls maturing faster than boys. On the WTA tour, there are 16 players in top 400 among those 18 and under. On the ATP tour, there are only 10 players that are in top 750 that are 18 and under.

Out of those 10 players, only 4 are eligible this year to play ITF junior circuit ...

Re: European Challengers 2025

Better results in doubles for our players at Murcia Challenger.

RamK with Edas Butvilas of Lithuani upset second seeds 63 63 in the QF to reach the SF. In the other half, Anirudh Chandrasekar with David Vega Harnandez of Spain beat a pair who had upset 4th seeds Jeevan/VSP in the first round to ...

Re: BWF European Series tournaments- Feb/March 2025

Really big upset win by Sankar Muthuswamy over current world #2 Anders Antonsen. Ayush Shetty upset former world champion Loh Kean Yew 2 weeks back and now this win by Sankar. Good to see that there is still some talent in mens singles who can upset world's top players on given day. Now, they have ...

Re: M15/M25- Chandigarh/Ahmedabad/Bengaluru-March 2025

Apart from Aryan, other younger players to look forward to are Chirag Duhan and Yuvan Nandal.

Chirag Duhan, Yuvan Nandal, Kriish Tyagi and Dev Javia all out in first round itself.

Yes, 10 Indians are in last 16 but most of the young ones have lost. 19 year old Aryan is the only under 21 ...

Re: European Challengers 2025

True, one of the worst matches I have seen Sumit play. Shots not too deep giving opportunities to his opponent and tons of unforced errors.

If he is really injured or something, he better take a proper break. If not, I do not know how he will come out of this slump, will need big strength of ...

Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread

That is a bad loss. After a very good start to the year in Thailand, Sahaja's form has suddenly dipped. I wonder if it has anything to do with change of coaches.
