Re: Karman Kaur Thandi

Also played only 1 of the 4 25K tournaments held in India in December, also not in entry list of 25K Jodhpur next week. She has missed at least 4-5 tournaments which she could have played ( and could have taken her quite a bit up in the rankings ) and gone for training to France instead. I hope she ...

Re: Ankita Raina thread

Ankita is next up against a Korean.

At $25K ITF Women, Singapore

[R2] Ankita Raina (IND,203) vs. Na-Lae Han (KOR,219)

Ankita and Han played each other twice last year and it was 1 win each in both 3 set matches. Hope with her improved performance this year, Ankita will prevail this time.

Re: Davis Cup 2019 - India

Italian #1 Fabio Fognini is not travelling to India for the davis cup. So, some relief for us but still a very strong team for Italy. Marco Cecchinato ( Singles- 18 ) Andeas Seppi (Singles- 35 , doubles- 224) Matteo Berretini ( Singles- 54, doubles- 131) Thomas Fabbiano ( Singles-102, doubles -334) ...

Re: $54K(+H) Chennai Challenger, Feb 4-10, 2019

Sorry, I disagree a bit. Wildcards are not the right way to reward juniors or prospective future players. If you want to do that, save 2-3 spots for people who have the best U-23 ranking, say. Or the most improved player in the last year or two. In this age of computers, we can create and maintain ...

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread

His live ranking is now 102. So, he is very close to top 100 and and even a SF in one of the 2 weeks in Chennai/Bangkok or even a QF in both the weeks should take him to top 100. He has only 7 points to defend till mid April and still has 4 zero pointers in his points tally. So, lots of scope of upw...

Will this top-170 rank be enough for her to enter the IW and Miami Qualifying?
Last year's cut-off was 137 for Indian Wells qualifying and 150 for Miami qualies. So, Ankita will have to raise her rank inside 150 to have a chance to play those events, it seems.

Re: Ankita Raina thread

I forgot to mention that she also has a physio with her this week and next. I spoke to the physio, who said she travels with her only intermittently. But Ankita looks Super-fit, and she makes up for her height deficiency (about 5’ 6”, a couple of inches shorter than Sania) with her speed around the...

Re: Australian open 2019

Yes, 20 year old Tiafoe beats Dimitrov in 4 sets to reach the QF. Looks like young guns on ATP tour are finally showing their ability. Will be interesting to see what 22 year Medvedev and another 20 year old Tsitsipas can do against Novak and Roger later today.

Re: Ankita Raina thread

Wow,what a week for Ankita. 75 20 against #142 Sharipova, 64 61 against #150 Perin and now 63 62 against #122 Rus in the QF to final. Her fourth 25K title but I think in terms of quality of opposition her best week on pro tour. It is apt that this takes her to a new career high. She does not have to...
