Re: FIH's Hockey Pro League - (Men's and Women's)
In my opinion, the men's results were better than expected. Performances were a bit up and down -scraping a 1-0 win over Ireland, a draw with Spain and the obligatory collapse in the 1st match v Australia, but we managed to draw 2 games with the Netherlands and one v Australia. That is very encourag...

Re: England in India 2024-25 : The Pataudi Trophy
England's Bazball tactic is great fun to watch. Scoring at 5-6 runs an over puts the opposition under a lot of pressure. I feel we need another 150+ tomorrow to be safe from defeat. Usually, we lose 2-3 quick wickets to mess up these calculations. Let's hope the wicket breaks up post lunch, or prefe...

Re: FIH's Hockey Pro League - (Men's and Women's)
Our women have beaten Australia 1-0! That's a very encouraging result. Sadly, all these results are a bit late as we messed up 3-4 opportunities to get to the Olympics. Still think we need to replace the coach and of course the joke selectors. The men's side are doing rather better than expected so ...

Re: Under19 World Cup 2022 : West Indies
54/2. We need another 200 @ 6 runs an over. Looking tough from here.

Re: FIH's Hockey Pro League - (Men's and Women's)
Very pleasant surprise to see us beating Spain4-1. We lost to them in a mini tournament in Spain recently, where we lost to Germany & Belgium (7-2!!) before sneaking a 5-4 win v France. We lost badly to the Dutch in RSA a few weeks ago too (5-1), so I'm hoping we put up a better fight this time....

Re: FIH's Hockey Pro League - (Men's and Women's)
by Sin Hombre » Fri Feb 09, 2024 2:44 am Women have lost 3 games in a row, why are they still being funded? It'll be 4 losses tonight. Good question regarding funding. Wasted so much money on tours and coaches and then make crazy selections- no drag flickers for vital tournaments or drop key player...

Re: England in India 2024-25 : The Pataudi Trophy
What a shocking performance after being 175 ahead on day 2. Only India can do this. As always our tail contributes almost nothing (last 2-3 batters will get ducks) and the opposition tails routinely gets 80-100 for their last 3 wickets. That's usually the killer. 120/7! Oh, one other thing....every ...

Re: England in India 2024-25 : The Pataudi Trophy
I think we'll be chasing 250-300 as Pope is going so well. Plus our famed inability to remove the tail enders is going to be very costly. Is the pitch holding up ok?

Re: Hockey at Paris Olympics 2024
Hopefully we can get top 4 in our group ;) Then we need to run into Spain or GB. The latter are very tough to beat, so I think a QF loss is the most likely outcome. We have wasted 2 years playing the same old failures. In fact, we've dropped good prospects like Karthi Selvan and Dilpreet. Just like ...

Re: FIH Olympic qualifier
Pathetic, but not totally expected. Losing to the USA really was a big let down. I honestly can't see our women improving a lot unless we do something with our domestic system. We select a squad of 20-25 and for 5-10 years and just keep selecting non performing dross, there is no planned replacement...

Re: FIH Olympic qualifier
Pleased to progress into the semis. Don't have much confidence in beating Germany, but let's hope we win the play off. Won't be easy, but let's hope for the best.

Re: FIH Olympic qualifier
Very pleased to beat NZL. I honestly didn't expect this. Now we don't need to rely on other results to make the semis. The Kiwis are rebuilding but they are always a side that we struggle against because of their physical strength and speed. If we can top our group, then qualification looks a bit ea...

Re: FIH Olympic qualifier
We're out. This coach and the selectors are useless. No PC specialist is just dumb beyond belief. We always handicap our teams with incredibly stupid decisions. on and off the pitch. Frankly, our women have regressed badly in the past 2-3 years. we have spent a lot of money on coaches and tours and ...

Not confident at all of getting out of the group. We always struggle v NZL and I expect USA to be tough too.

Re: Misc. news about Indian hockey
The men's team is off to South Africa for 4-5 matches v France, RSA and Netherlands. here is the squad: Goalkeepers PR Sreejesh, Krishan Pathak, and Pawan defenders Jarmanpreet Singh, Jugraj Singh, Amit Rohidas, Harmanpreet Singh, Varun Kumar, Sumit, Sanjay and Rabichandra Singh Moirangthem.
