Re: Junior Indian Hockey - men and women

We have just beaten Australia 5-4 at the SOJC. Usual nonsense at the end when we nearly squandered a 5-2 lead with lunacy near our D. PC after PC conceded by crass tackles and pathetic decision making. Any free hit from us resulted in a silly aerial (Mandeep Mor was an expert at gifting the ball awa...

Re: Junior Indian Hockey - men and women

We are doing very well in the men's hockey 5s a the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires. Huge wins over Bangladesh, Austria and Kenya so far. The women scraped past Austria 4-2 and Uruguay 2-1. Meanwhile our U21s are top of the table at the SOJC. Today we got a scrappy 1-0 win over Japan. Our guys have e...

Re: Junior Indian Hockey - men and women

Our U21s have started off well in the 2018 Sultan of Johor Cup. Yesterday, we beat Malaysia 2-1 and today we thrashed NZ 7-1. Completely dominated today's game with some slick play. Japan have also stared well with 2-1 wins over GB and Australia. Matches are being streamed on YouTube or via We have ...

Re: Asia Cup, 2018

Dumb batting towards the end. Even 4 singles an over seemed beyond our players. Several dot balls and then some silly shot was the pattern....much like the performance against Afghanistan.

Re: Asian champions trophy

Vivek is playing in the Youth Olympics, Rupinder Pal is still not fully fit. Nor is Ramandeep andof course, Sardar has retired. However, the real problem area is the forward line. We still have Mandeep and Akashdeep rather than trying out Sumit (who looked good at the Azlan Shah Cup) or Affan Yousse...

Re: Asia Cup, 2018

Yes, quite lucky to win this. HK just needed to keep their cool, but didn't keep the score moving.

Re: Asia Cup, 2018

Openers gone and run rate up to 8.5. HK have lost the plot. Still doesn't excuse the dreadful bowling that went before the breakthrough. Shardul was laughably rubbish. We specialise in his kind of 'quick' bowlers ;)
103 needed of 12 overs. Maybe possible for HK

Re: Asia Cup, 2018

Really pathetic stuff against HK. Shardul was appalling. In fact the quicker bowlers have been cr*p. 139/0 with 21 overs to go. Only chance is to keep the run rate down and hope HK panic.

Re: Misc. news about Indian hockey

One of our greatest players, Sardar Singh has announced his retirement from international hockey. For many years he carried our mediocre teams and although, it's sad to see him go, he has not been at his best for the past 2+ years. He was dropped from the 25 member squad for the Asian Champions trop...

Re: India in England, 2018

Pathetic stuff so far. Both openers are hopeless. Might as well throw in a couple of youngsters and we'll be no worse off.

Ashwin/Moeen has been the difference in this test. And to a lesser extent, Pandya/Curran. Both of our guys have been rubbish.

Re: India in England, 2018

Selectors have picked the wrong bowling unit in every test in this series, apart from the 3rd one. Ashwin has cost us this game with his garbage with ball and bat. Pandya too, has been pathetic. One good game followed by 5 where he contributes zilch. If Bhuvi is 80% fit, he has to play. His batting ...

Re: Asian Games Hockey

Scrappy game v Pakistan today. For large parts we were poor. Huge gaps in midfield (defending too deep), tackling was slack, lost all the 50/50 loose balls (& most of the 60/40 ones too because of clumsiness), stupid aerials which got intercepted most of the time, really poor passing, zero eliminati...

Re: Asian Games Hockey

Post by ankit1407 » Sat Sep 01, 2018 11:55 am Mandeep makes a mess of a chance but we hold on to win 2-1 .. He's an expert at this...honestly, we pick the most inept players. Mandeep and Akashdeep have been atrocious in key matches since their debuts in 2013. 5 years and they are still selected eve...

Re: India in England, 2018

First half hour seems to indicate best batting conditions so far. Only hope is Ashwin emulating the 'great' Moeen. ;)
