Re: India in England, 2018

What's going on? No comments about today's 'wonderful' batting display?

England could declare after 3 sessions and then need just 40+ overs to bowl our lot again. 5 sessions max needed to go 2-0 so another full day's rain won't save this test.

Re: India in England, 2018

It's way too much to expect 100 from the last wickets. Restricting England to 30-40 less would have reduced the pressure quite a bit

Re: India in England, 2018

England's lower order ruining things. 200+ will be too much with the number of 'passengers' in the team. Target 180+ now and much more possible with our poor record of knocking over the tail. We made it hard for ourselves with such poor close catching and not picking another spinner. Our pacers are ...

Re: Men's and Women's Hockey World Cups 2018

Yes Jay, always happens to us...always. However, if you lose twice to Ireland, you have no business in a WC semi. We had more possession, more PCs, but as is standard for ALL Indian hockey teams...we just can't take our opportunities. How many times have we seen our teams throw away matches that sho...

Re: India in England, 2018

Anything over 200 will be too much for us. Agree with the comparison to the Gavaskar/Vishy & Tendulkar/Azhar days. On top of this we have I' shant and Umesh. I felt we gave away 40-50 runs too many on day 1.

Re: Men's and Women's Hockey World Cups 2018

As expected we f**k up a huge opportunity. Out to Ireland on penalties. Feel terrible. :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn:

Re: Men's and Women's Hockey World Cups 2018

3-0 win over Italy! Excellent. woohoo
It's Ireland on Thursday. We dominated the pool game but (as is usual for all our teams) we contrived to lose. Better performance today and another step up in our play will be need in the QF

Re: Men's and Women's Hockey World Cups 2018

Unfortunately, all the Asian teams (including us) have struggled against well organised, fitter and faster opponents. The umpiring has been poor (as usual). I watched Italy get thrashed 12-1 by Holland. They were totally outclassed, so it's poor from both Korea and China to lose to them. Ireland wer...

Re: Men's and Women's Hockey World Cups 2018

It's worked out well for us. Italy next and if we win that one, it's Ireland in the QF. Both matches are winnable, but we need to improve on the pool matches. This is a fantastic opportunity to progress beyond our wildest dreams 😉

Re: Men's and Women's Hockey World Cups 2018

We've got the draw we needed so will definitely be in the cross over matches. Just want England to finish 2nd in the pool to complete our best case scenario. Only way we end up 2nd is if England lose by 3 goals or 2-0 to Ireland.

Re: Men's and Women's Hockey World Cups 2018

We lost 1-0 to ireland yesterday and that has made our task of progressing much harder. It was a poor performance because we looked disorganised and gave away too much space in midfield and the flanks (coaching issues!). Ireland defended well and we just couldn't score despite 27 circle penetrations...

Re: Men's and Women's Hockey World Cups 2018

Video referrals are present and that saved us a PS. However referrals are only for PCs or strokes or goals. Our tackles were always deemed to be a foul, even if we won the ball cleanly, whilst fouls by the opposing ('white') team are regularly missed by the umpires. This happens far too often, espec...

Re: Men's and Women's Hockey World Cups 2018

We were lucky as England completely dominated the 2nd half. The equaliser was a bit frustrating as Deepika could have cleared the PC shot. It's a very encouraging result. We will need to better this performance against the remaining pool matches to progress into the QFs. Oh..and the umpiring was stan...

Re: India in England, 2018

A few days ago, the English press were stating that the summer is going to be tough for the home team. Don't know why they looked at the T20s and 1st ODI and came to this conclusion. In the tests, our bowlers will be toothless and the batsmen will be their usual selves. Avoiding a 5-0 thrashing will...

Re: Asian Games Hockey

The squad for the 2018 Asian games has been announced. Akashdeep is back and Mandeep stays. I have given up on both of these two, so let's hope our PC conversions are good to get us the results. I was hoping Sumit Kumar would be fit and take Ramandeep's place. Disappointing to see Jarmanpreet droppe...
