At $668K Atlanta Open 2018, Georgia, USA

[SF] Purav Raja (IND) / Ken Skupski (GBR) l. (2) Ryan Harrison (USA) / Rajeev Ram (USA) : 3-6, 4-6
Ram is raja! Raja got the ram!

Still good showing by Raja-Skupski in this tournament.

Re: ATP Tournaments in North America, July-August 2018

Steve Johnson was on fire all week, not losing more than 3 games in any of the sets that he played. RamK took 5 games off of him in the first set, and took the second set 6-3. Great showing by the youngster in his very first final. I'm very proud and pleased with his performance - great smarts, guts...

Re: ATP Tournaments in North America, July-August 2018

Apparently Steve Johnson is 0-1 against Indians. He lost his very first ATP main draw match to ... Somdev. This according to the ATP website. However, he will be a tough, tough customer in the final. Nevertheless, RamK also seems to be riding high on confidence. So I am hoping for a cracker of a mat...

Re: ATP Tournaments in North America, July-August 2018

Artem Sitak is in the doubles final with Jonathan Erlich. Can you imagine the headlines if Ramkumar Ramanathan had played doubles partnering Artem Sitak?!

Game, set and match, Ram-Sita! 😋

Re: ATP Tournaments in North America, July-August 2018

The grass has been greener on the other side for Indians!!! Ram Nam Jai Ho!!! Actually the Newport grass is never too green, which seems to be to the Indians' liking. It is like those not-so-lush Indian grass courts with similar uneven bounce. I meant figuratively, not literally. 😊 I guess you're s...

Re: Wimbledon 2018

While I would be very happy to see Yuki do better - duh - as in what his potential in the junior ranks might have led us to hope, I am still happy with how he has done in the past 12 months - going back to his win over Monfils in DC. He has qualified for Masters events and Grand Slams, which should ...

Re: AITA News .....

The AITA has renamed their (quite teribble...) Facebook account to TFI - any idea what is going on there? Got to spend the money somewhere. A needless rebranding sounds a great idea during the committee meetings. Makes them look like they are doing something. AILTA became AITA became TFI . .. becom...

Re: Asian Challengers - April 2018

Another rope-a-dope by Prajnesh, losing the first set and then storming back to wrap it up ... pun intended (hint, the opponent was Egyptian)! Sent the Egyptian back to his Cairo-practor! Safwat ran into the Sphinx and he couldn't solve the puzzle, and paid the price!

Re: Asian Challengers - April 2018

Prajnesh dis an excellent Muhammed Ali rope-a-dope impression losing the first set to love and then storming back to deliver the knock out punch.

Now beat that Egyptian till he cries out for his mummy!

Re: Asian Challengers - April 2018

In three Davis Cup matches, in Frejus, and once in Czech Republic, though. Otherwise, he religiously stayed away from clay. His game was much more suited for clay than hard courts, in my opinion, but he hated clay. .... But his clay game was not that bizzare, and his quickness, out-of-this-world to...

Re: Asian Challengers - April 2018

I think this has nothing really to do with any of the Indian academies. Indians are able to come up with the funds needed to go to Europe and learn; mainly in the Spanish tennis centers and some in Germany. I think what is also helping them is that they have all become comfortable with clay because...
