Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

It's a lot easier to chase 100 in 7.3 overs than to score 270 when batting first. That's why it makes far more sense to bat second when trying to boost your NRR. In that scenario, MI will have their NRR come up to +0.3 or so and not qualify. It is very hard for them to qualify if they bat second. P...

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

But most of his avg was built up in the first half of the season, when he started off spectacularly, but the 2nd half has been abysmal. He needs to get his earlier form back before he should be considered.

Re: T20I World Cup 2021

I would like to see Ruturaj G, Avesh Khan and Y Chahal replace Ishan Kishan, Bhuvi and Rahul Chahar respectively for WCT20 squad. That would give us almost the best possible lineup. Kishan and Bhuvi are in terrible form, they will be a big burden on the side and R Chahar is not doing too great himse...

Re: Indian Volleyball

Even with a better draw, I don't think they would have finished better than 8th, because they are clearly inferior to Iran, Japan, China, Chinese Taipei, Australia, Qatar and South Korea. Now they have a chance to finish 9th by reversing the preliminary pool result. But if they lose this game, they ...

Re: T20I World Cup 2021

Iyer is too slow for this format; we don't need more accumulators when we already have Rohit, Kohli and Rahul. I would have wanted Prithwi ideally in the team. Also I like Ashwin's selection, he is our best spinner across all formats IMO. And I don't think he is going to warm the benches. I rather t...

Re: India in England, summer of 2021

And pretty ordinary bowling too, if the pitch does not offer enough assistance

Re: India in England, summer of 2021

It's not only our batting that struggles in swing-friendly conditions but our bowling as well. Unless the pitch offers a lot in terms of spin or seam, we will struggle to dismiss the opposition. So England's (or any SENA country for that matter) game plan is pretty simple: just roll out a placid pit...

Re: India in England, summer of 2021

Why does Bumrah fluctuate between the sublime and the ridiculous? Makes the job of a captain very hard. Now it seems like there is only team that can lose, unless the pitch totally deteriorates the last day, which seems unlikely.

Re: India in England, summer of 2021

Conditions are expected to be quite overcast throughout the Test (as Kohli also looks to have studied), so I don't think spinners will have much role. Also Rahul's coming back into form along with a relatively strong lower middle order in Pant and Jedaja has given some muscle to the batting lineup. ...

Re: India in England, summer of 2021

1. Is Siraj better than Umesh? I prefer Thakur as the 3rd pacer since he can bat a bit. Or else, we should get Ishant back if he is fit. If he is not fit, I think Umesh now is a better bowler very marginally than Siraj. Their batting is about the same. I agree but I think Kohli prefers Siraj as he ...

Re: India in England, summer of 2021

What was the hurry to call off the match? The weather was expected to clear towards the evening and even 1-2 hours of play could have been enough

Re: India in England, summer of 2021

Ashwin is also not too bad wrt batting. We get like 5 extra runs at the cost of 1-2 wickets, is not a good bargain IMO. If you look at their recent performance in WTC final in similar conditions, Ashwin picked quite a few crucial wickets, Jadeja was mostly ineffective.

Stupid decision to play Jadeja ahead of Ashwin, unless the latter was injured.

Re: Tokyo Olympics 2020

Maybe I am missing something. There are only 3 SFs involving Indians, Ravi, Deepak and Lovlina. Who is the 4th one?
