Re: Indian Shooting thread
Actually the level of competition at these WCs may not be all that bad (for example we had the top Chinese in this event), however it's the pressure factor that is the difference. That is really key in precision sports like shooting and archery where even a little bit of nervousness or loss in ...

Re: Indian Shooting thread
The interesting thing is that we are usually the best in such World Cups, surpassing even China, however when it comes to crunch time in Olympics, we end up far behind the Chinese. Are our shooters that mentally fragile, or do the Chinese step it up when it matters?

Re: ICC Champions Trophy 2025
IMO, Rahul was the man of the series for us. He contributed in almost every game and carried us through in both the crucial knockout matches. He thus redeemed himself after having performed below par in the previous ICC tournaments. I hope he can continue this way in future big tournaments as well ...

Re: Indian Athletics Thread ...
Certainly seems like one. This is even better than the recent Olympic gold medal winning timing. As these long distance races generally tend to be tactical in nature, this is one area he might need to work on.

Re: England in India 2024-25 : The Pataudi Trophy
Another super performance by Varun C. Its seeming increasingly so that we made a mistake not selecting him for the Champions trophy. He should have been selected in place of Washington Sundar, who is unlikely to add much value as a bowler.

Re: India in Australia 2024-25
Looks like Nitish Reddy has been too busy practicing the celebratory Pushpa and Bahubali poses rather than practicing playing against good seam bowling. Would be surprised if he does any well in the 2nd innings as well.

Re: India in Australia 2024-25
We really have the most horrible bowling attack of all the test playing nations. We might be marginally better than Bangladesh and Afghanistan, and that's it. When Australia comes in to bowl, then suddenly the pitch will spring into life.

Yeah, at least he is a strong prospect for multiple Golds in the Asian Games, even if we can't expect much from him at the Olympics.

Re: New Zealand in India, 2024
It's quite amazing that even after 20 years of international cricket, Kohli can't still judge a run. At least, this time he only got himself out, so we probably didn't lose out much, but in the previous game, he got Pant out, which affected us more.

Gaikwad is too slow, I would pick Samson to open and pick Parag and Varun in the starting X1 over Gaikwad and Kuldeep.

Really good selections, don't know if it's the Gambhir effect or the selectors finally woke up. The only iffy one is Washington S, would have preferred R Chahar or Suyash Sharma, but looks like the latter didn't have a good recent IPL season. Also hope Mayank and Varun are actually healthy now.

If we do win against GB, we will likely face GER in the SF, which is a good matchup for us I think. I like our medal chances overall

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
Are the archers looking at their opponents score and thinking about what they themselves need to get, which is what making them nervous? Did they not get help from mental conditioning coach?

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
In this case, Nishant had a 20-18 lead on 3 judges score sheet after the 2nd round, so he couldn't have lost even if every judge had him losing 10-9 in the last round. The only way he could have lost was by getting knocked out or getting a penalty for holding etc. You could clearly see him evading ...
