Re: Indian Athletics Thread ...
Yeah, at least he is a strong prospect for multiple Golds in the Asian Games, even if we can't expect much from him at the Olympics.

Re: New Zealand in India, 2024
It's quite amazing that even after 20 years of international cricket, Kohli can't still judge a run. At least, this time he only got himself out, so we probably didn't lose out much, but in the previous game, he got Pant out, which affected us more. Also sad to see our spinners getting outbowled by ...

Gaikwad is too slow, I would pick Samson to open and pick Parag and Varun in the starting X1 over Gaikwad and Kuldeep.

Really good selections, don't know if it's the Gambhir effect or the selectors finally woke up. The only iffy one is Washington S, would have preferred R Chahar or Suyash Sharma, but looks like the latter didn't have a good recent IPL season. Also hope Mayank and Varun are actually healthy now.

Re: Hockey at Paris Olympics 2024
If we do win against GB, we will likely face GER in the SF, which is a good matchup for us I think. I like our medal chances overall

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
Are the archers looking at their opponents score and thinking about what they themselves need to get, which is what making them nervous? Did they not get help from mental conditioning coach?

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
In this case, Nishant had a 20-18 lead on 3 judges score sheet after the 2nd round, so he couldn't have lost even if every judge had him losing 10-9 in the last round. The only way he could have lost was by getting knocked out or getting a penalty for holding etc. You could clearly see him evading/r...

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
i don't think he was tired. He was just adopting a defensive approach knowing he was clear on points even if he lost the round.
The next match will be pretty even I think. But he is our best hope among the boxers. If he loses, we may have have to shift our projections downwards.

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
The reason (excuse) is simple. The conditions were rainy/freezing and the Dutch team was much more used to them. The case of Bhajan is curious. It turns out she used to go to hilly places when young and practice shooting in these conditions, so she had no problem adjusting

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
It's unfortunate that Ankita is also in the mixed event. Can't she get a case of food poisoning or something and be replaced with Bhajan?

Re: Paris Olympics 2024
I think she got a relatively easy draw. If she cannot win a medal with this draw, she likely never will.

Re: India in Sri Lanka'24
The problem is we don't have any good spinners waiting. Tell me 1 that impressed you in the IPL. Only Varun C. comes to mind and he should definitely be given chances, however he is also frequently injured.

Re: Head coach of Indian cricket team
I am actually hopeful that Gambhir will be able to take the tough calls to move our cricket forward by bringing in fresh faces. Dravid, Laxman etc are all very conservative in their decision making, not letting us make the transition. For instance, Laxman is still not giving an opportunity to Harshi...

Re: ICC Champions Trophy 2025
The draw looks to be heavily doctored. Not only are IND and PAK in the same group, but also their group is much easier than the other one, thereby maximizing chances of both teams progressing to the knockouts (PAK particularly so).
