Re: TennisIndia Daily updates (has restarted YET AGAIN!)

But will Jay start writing daily notes again. I doubt it... Maybe when I retire? (no plans to do that soon) :) ... Probably not needed these days with all the scores and news available around. I would need to get connected to a lot of players to do a good job at that. ITD has a network that does th...

[QF] Sahaja Yamalapalli (IND,440) d. Ekaterina Yashina (RUS,417), 61 60

Yashina only had 7 points in the second set, and three of them were DFs from Sahaja.

Sahaja just broke Yashina to lead 3-0 in the second. It is probably Yashina taking the MTO.

Re: Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha thread

^^^ Actually he knows that he is a bit of a late bloomer. He had a serious abdominal injury (if I remember correctly) that took him out of tennis for like 4 years or something (ages 19 to 23 or something like that?). I believe he even thought he was done with tennis once, before he started doing wel...

Re: Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha thread

^^^ No, I don't think Niki considers himself a doubles specialist just yet - unless he told you otherwise! He has not shown a lack of focus in singles, and has been playing it dead seriously all along. Like in those recent matches against Digvijay and all, you could always see the fight in him (I ha...

Re: Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha thread

^^^ Thanks Dinesh. It looked weird how the match got turned around from late in the second set. I guess the other guy is simply a better player and probably played badly enough at first to give Niki even a chance. Good to know that he is not injured. (Actually it was not because he lost that I suspe...

Re: Junior Circuits Abroad for Indian Kids...

Our #2 junior, Krisha Mahendran (IND,176) is the second seed at the J100 in Calgary, Canada, and has reached the SF there with straight sets wins over three Canadians. She and the top seed Jessica Bernales (USA,169) are partners too, as top seeds in doubles. They have reached the SF of doubles as we...

Re: Junior Circuits Abroad for Indian Kids...

Rethin Pranav Senthilkumar (IND,305) was at the Gdansk J60 in Poland on clay as the top seed. His first junior ITF event since the Delhi J200 in January. To suddenly play on European red clay was not going to be easy. He lost cheaply, 26 26 to 15 year old Kacper Knitter (POL,946). Bad loss.

At the M15 in Rancho Santa Fe, California, USA (Hard),

[R1] (7) Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha (IND,670) l. Cash Hanzlik (USA,962) 61 57 16

That was a tough loss from a winning position. Hope he is not injured or anything :(

Re: ITF Women La Marsa Tunisia W25, W40, May 29- June 11, 2023

No double faults in the first two service games by Sahaja, as she raced to a 4-0 lead. Then almost none in the third service game too. But right at the first BP on her, at AD out, she served her first double fault - and got broken. Come on Sahaja, stop thinking too much and making it tough on yourse...

Nice upset by Rutuja!!

[R2] Rutuja Bhosale (IND,374) d. (3) Nafesa Berberovic (SRB,322), 36 63 64

Sahaja's match is starting. No double faults in her first service game. A good sign :)

Re: Roland Garros 2023

We still do have a few juniors who will be popping up next week. Only two. It seems Manas finished 2 out from the qualifying draw. Aryan is in the qualies as the 5th seed (and Yuvan is in the main draw). It seems Aryan has won the Q1... Looking for the score. Ok, got it. [Q1] (5) Aryan Shah d. (WC)...

Re: European Challengers 2023

Sumit advanced to the QF at Troisdorf on a walkover! .... Sumit will move up to around #228 with the free points.

Two qualifiers and two lucky losers are among the 7 who are in the QF. One more LL to play his R16.
