Re: U.S. Politics
^^^ Are you saying that the US Government should be doing stupid things like that, to keep world "leadership"? Increasing voter turnout in a country where the turnout is generally higher than in the US? What is the logic? I am sure most of such money went to leftist groups in India, and la...

Re: Indian Challengers 2025
^^^ I also agree. The higher ranked older players are showing no spark. Let us give them to the youngsters and take a chance. Sunder Iyer has again done a good job with the wildcards, like he did for the women's W75. He deserves thanks. Hope Sunil Yajaman at Bengaluru will follow suit for the subseq...

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
^^^ Thanks. That Somedev run in the US in 2008 was an incredible 28 wins in a row, but there were breaks between the 5 events. He had 10 in a row in consecutive weeks. Prakash had two long streaks in India (one of 13 wins in the 2003 4-week satellites, and one of 15 wins in the 2007 3-week futures s...

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
That is 10 wins in consecutive weeks (in 12 days). I don't think any Indian man has done that, ever. I think Sameer checked it and found Somdev with 7 or 8 in a row, when Sumit last year matched it or something (right, Sameer?). Even more incredible is that he has just had SEVEN upset wins in two we...

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
^^^ Unfortunately, that is correct. He has nowhere near the form he had a year ago. On the other hand, when I see him play, it does not look like his game has significantly regressed or anything. Not like he is less quick or weaker in his shots. No mechanical issues or anything is visible. He still ...

I guess Sumit still cannot et his moxie back. Lost today, but I couldn't watch, as I was teaching a lecture at the same time.

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Hopefully he is better than 2 days ago. Had a virus, is all we heard - when he retired in the Q2. No idea how bad the illness was.

Re: Indian Challengers 2025
There was an egregiously bad line call against Ramkumar early in the third set. I did frame-advance and checked the archive video, and actually the ball seemed out. It might have clipped the outer edge of the line, at best. Definitely not anything for RamK to go berserk over. But you are right that...

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
He has apparently reached a bit over 6 to 6-1 or so now. That picture with Sinner was from last June or so, iirc.

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
Why isn't he playing Jr Slams? He has only played pro events and no junior events for a year, so he has no junior ranking. But a top-850 ATP ranking will get him automatic entry to junior grand slam qualifying, and a top-750 rank puts him into junior GS main draws. He is close to 750 and will now b...

At the M15 in Monastir, TUN (Hard) [R1] (SE) Manas Dhamne (IND,1013) d. (5) Alberto Barroso Campos (ESP,540), 76(2) 63 Yet another upset. Wow. It seems he won 12 points straight from 3-3 in the second set, with two breaks and a hold. To be able to do that for a 9th win in a row in 10 days is somethi...

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
Actually, upon further thinking, I wonder if it is because Piatti wants him to pick up 4 or 5 more points as soon as possible to make the top-750 and junior grand slam draws (so that March and April tournament play can be planned for M25s or challenger qualies without point pressure). It is risky to...

^^^ Hitesh lost 26 63 26, Arjun lost 46 36 and Shanker lost 16 46, so it was a quick finish in singles for the Indian contingent on clay at the Cairo J500
... Doubles remains for all three.

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
Manas is in the main draw of this week's M15 at Monastir, with a special exempt entry. He plays the 5th seed Alberto Barroso Campos (ESP,540), whom he beat last week in the SF. I think Manas needs to get some rest. If he gets out of there without an injury and reaches Pune early for next week's chal...
