Re: Aditi Ashok

How is the course picked for the Olympics? Are longer ones less to her liking, still?

Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...

I did go to Rolling Hills today. Picked up Sahaja from the Long Beach airport and took her to a host family near there. And I also watched the India #1 junior get her first pro win, in an upset of the 13th seed in the qualies. How about that? Sports-india/ITD shows up and our players win, eh?? At th...

Re: Vaidehi Chaudhari thread

At the ITF W35 in Taipei, Taiwan (Hard): [R1] Vaidehi Chaudhari (IND,597) vs (Q) Rinon Okuwaki (JPN,792) Rinon is a 19 year old who qualified last week in Taiwan too, and won a round. She seems to be playing quite well, so not necessarily too easy a match, but Vaidehi should take this. Vaidehi isn't...

Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...

Krisha Mahendran (technically the India #1 junior, though I think she is basically an American) got a wildcard to the qualies at the ITF W15 in Rolling Hills Estates, Los Angeles, CA, USA. She is from right nearby there in Palos Verdes, if I am not mistaken, and had committed play for the University...

Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread

She will be the top seed at these W15 events, but that does not mean much in many US events, because many lower ranked players are under-ranked. These US events are often the toughest hard court W15s out there on the ITF tour. Proof. A 15-year old wildcard ranked 192 in the juniors and 1300+ in the...

So are we sure of making the semifinal now? No need to beat Australia, right?

Re: Indian Archery Thread ...

^^^ No, I wasn't talking about us (you and sameer, basically) creating hopes. We were going by the sports-india predictions then, whch have always been the most accurate medal predictions about India at all these games. So we did not have any unrealistic expectations. I was talking about the news ou...

Re: Indian Archery Thread ...

So it looks like I am not correct in my observation based on what you were all saying that "it is confirmed that we will lay an egg"? If so, yeah!! Let's go, archers. You all tell me. I don't follow archery closely to know. It is just that when I look up every 2 years or whenever, I see al...

Re: Sahaja Yamalapalli thread

^^^ I assume it is the latter. Vishnu said that her parents are also in the US now, so that may be why. Varma and I may find out from her when she is in LA. Update: Sahaja is coming tomorrow to LA, and will play the W15 this week. I won't be surprised if she skips the Lakewood M15 in So Cal the week...

Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...

Ah... So everybody will be in action. I wish there were a site that would just list all the players and show where they are, including the ITF events (like the dart site for ATP events and challengers). It is a pain to go through all the ITF lists to see where our players show up. These days they ma...

Re: [Tennis] Misc. Results for Indians abroad...

At the M25 starting on Tuesday (main draw) at HIllcrest, RSA, we will have four guys in the main draw. Aryan and Ishaque as seeds, and Aditya Balsekar and Parth Agarwal also in the field. Yash Yadav is seeded 4th in the qualies starting on Sunday. Dev Javia will be in the Monastir M15 main draw next...
