Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread

Though he beat the 7th seed in the qualies here, I think Smyczek hasn't been playing all that well lately though. A decent chance for RamK here, but anything can happen because Smyczek is on and off, just as RamK has been too, lately.

Re: Highest rankings of all the former Indian players please????

Congrats to Prajnesh for making the top-10 list. Maybe we should add the year when they reached the highest rankings? We had 9 top-150 players till 1988 when Zeeshan made the top-150, and 10 when LP got there in 1994. Then we went 19 years without anybody, till Somdev in 2013. Now we have had 5 play...

Yikes. Semifinal losses everywhere this week. But that was really a bad loss by Rohan and Divij, who should be doing better than this by now. Hope they buckle down and do better soon.

Clearly an opportunity lost for big points, for both the players.

Alright. Gunner did it. 64 63... He was up 5-2 and unnecessarily dropped serve with some double faults. But no problem, as Duckworth was already worth no more than a duck, and was ready to crock anyway.

Re: Football: Indian National Team news ...

In the latest FIFA rankings, our ranking goes down to #103 after the AFC Asian Cup. Yeah, this new ranking system is too slow for football. They will need to dump it or adjust it soon. It is not reflecting the changes in team quality all that well. Our ranking is probably okay, still... but ranks n...

Only makes you wonder where Yuki (and others in Indian tennis) would have been if he had that luxury. In my view, Yuki did not suffer because of lack of resources or support. His suffering is largely his own doing. Some due to his own doing (mostly on scheduling), but you can't overlook his bad luc...

Yeah, we should play if the bug country can offer sufficient security. There is nothing illegitimate about the bug country. They are a fully legitimate country, but just a pest. No need to give the pests any importance by not playing them. Take them as nothing more than bugs, so go swat them. Beat t...

The Davis Cup is basically dead. This was the last tie played approximately in line with the old system. The glorious matches of the past will soon become a distant memory...
I had the same feeling this weekend. It just didn't feel like Davis Cup.
