Re: Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi thread
Renee Richards should be left out of any such list. She was a man, who changed sex and started playing in 'her' late-30s on the WTA tour. The other women were protesting about the injustice of that even then.

Re: England in India LOI Series 2025
I was surprised (but shouldn't have been) that Gill and not Jadeja was adjudged man of the match (cricket is a batsman's game, especially in the eyes of sponsors!). Jadeja's economical match-winning spell won us the match, and he knocked off some quick runs at the end too. I don't mind some shufflin...

Re: Manas Dhamne thread
A fantastic upset by Manas!!  [R2] (Q) Manas Dhamne (IND,1013) d. (3) Alejo Sanchez Quilez (ESP,576), 63 63 I need to check, but this may be his best win so far, based on the ATP ranking. One of the best, at least. Alejo had sneaked into top-500 late last year. (EDIT: Felix Corwin wh...

Re: Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi thread
Pam Shriver may have entered the rankings at #24, when she was 16 years old and made the final of the US Open as a 16 year old amateur. She was seeded 16th at the US Open though, so the ranking must have come earlier (unless she was seeded by over-ruling the rankings system, as used to happen quite ...

Re: England in India LOI Series 2025
Good job by the bowlers so far. England in trouble at 206/7 after 40 overs. Harshit Rana has been expensive on debut, but has picked up the wickets of Duckett, Brook and Livingstone. Jadeja got the crucial one of Root, and has been economical (21 runs in 6 overs). Shami has been solid (1/31 in 7 ove...

Re: Indian Challengers 2025
Based on news stories, Jeevan was still married to Neha Tripathi (golfer) until two years ago. Fairly rapid marital developments over the subsequent period, probably explaining some of Jeevan's recent ups and downs.

Re: Tata Steel (Corus) Chess - Masters
It really was a crazy final day at the Tata Steel (Corus) chess tournament in the Netherlands. That is boiled down to a contest between two young Indian teenagers was yet another demonstration of just how much India is now dominating chess.

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup
Yes it definitely looks as if the Djokovic Era is ending. I doubt he will win another Slam. Sinner-Alcaraz is the new rivalry, with Medvedev, Zverev and perhaps Tsitsipas, Fritz, Rune, Ruud etc providing the main competition -- with Djoker definitely among the competitive ones at least this year.

Re: England in India LOI Series 2025
Varun Chakravarthy has been added to the ODI squad for the England series. Well-deserved, as he has a solid List A bowling record. But of course, I hope he doesn't get drafted into the test side: he has played a single first class match, taking 1/105.

Re: WTA 125 "L&T Mumbai Open", Mumbai, Feb 2025
But what a red letter day this has proven for Indian women's tennis: THREE Indians have won a round each in the main draw of a WTA 125.
