Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Another repeat result. May be there is something in the pitch for the left arm spinners. Today it was the turn of Shahbaz Ahmed (one of the stars of Bengal's run to the Ranji final in the last tournament 2 years ago) to shine, with 3 wickets for 7 in 2 overs. Jason Holder also showed his utility. To...

Re: Tokyo Olympics 2020 projections
Fantastic that Neeraj is considered a serious contender for the silver medal at Tokyo. Not since Milkha Singh have we had a serious medal contender in athletics -- PT Usha (in a slightly depleted field at Los Angeles 1984) was trying a new event and wasn't known to be a contender until the heats and...

Jeevan/Balaji (4th seeds) lost in R1 after taking the first set via a TB. The STB was a titanic battle before they succumbed 16-18.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
KKR needed 31 runs off the last 30 balls, with Shakib and DK batting, and Andre Russell, Cummins and Bhajji still to come (plus tailenders Varun and Prasidh). Yet they contrived to score just 20 runs off those last 30 balls, and lose 3 wickets along the way. Inexplicable!!

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Amazing job by the MI spinners today, Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya. I'm surprised that even the likes of Russell and DK had shockingly poor run-rates. (Match fixing??).

Re: $80K Orlando ATP Challenger, April 12-19, 2021
That is a mighty impressive win. Ebden made the semifinals at the ATP Marseille on hard courts last month, beating #21 Karen Khachanov in the QF (having qualified in). And in Singapore, after beating Yuki, Ebden beat #39 John Millman 64 61. So he has been a bit inconsistent, but Ebden is far from do...

He finished it off pretty quickly!!

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Impressive knock from Sanju Samson today, but he probably made an error in not taking a single off the penultimate ball. He should have let Morris try hitting a 4 off the final ball, rather than having to hit a six himself.

She is in the RDU area as a marketing manager at Cisco. Sanaa's LinkedIn . So, not really free housing there but maybe a visit. RDU, for the uninitiated (including me), is Raleigh-Durham, or the Research Triangle area in North Carolina that includes NC State, Duke University, and UNC-Chapel Hill. (...

Re: $80K Orlando ATP Challenger, April 12-19, 2021
The economics don't work out, unless he wins the doubles title both weeks. The doubles winner (pair) in Orlando will make US$3100 (shared equally between the partners), so that doesn't cover the airfare. He will need to win both titles (Orlando and Tallahassee) for the economics to work. The cheapes...

Re: FIH Men's Pro League 2020
This is just fabulous. We are getting better, competing hard and winning away-matches against some of the best teams in the world. The best part is that we are creating a narrative of Indian victories against the top teams that will remove the fear factor when we play them at the Olympics. A 3-0 win...

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
This seems to be the IPL season for the domestic stalwarts. Today, it was Nitish Rana's turn to outshine all the stars. He apparently has a sequence of 0,80+,0,80+,0,80. Pretty decent average nonetheless!

Re: FIH Men's Pro League 2020
The 4-quarter format has made us competitive with the best sides in the world. I think we can legitimately say we are among the top-5 teams in the world now -- alongside Australia, Germany, Belgium, Argentina -- with the Netherlands just behind. This wasn't the case for most of the time between 1982...

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
Terrific knock by Prithvi Shaw -- and the rapidity of his scoring got Dhawan going too. Shaw's approach remains a bit risky, in that he hardly defends at all. But when it comes off (like it did yesterday) it's breathtaking to watch -- apart from the couple of chances he gave off Moeen's bowling, whi...

Re: $80K Orlando ATP Challenger, April 12-19, 2021
It's ludicrous of Yuki to travel all the way to the US to play only doubles. It was worth using his PR to get into the singles draw there this week (although not next week on clay). He could have considered playing qualifiers next week. He has a good doubles partner for this week, but also faces a v...
