Re: European ATP clay season 2018

What a consummate win over the top seeds. Divij is easily living up to his ranking. I hope he finds a permanent doubles partner soon!

Re: Asian champions trophy

Good to see our women's team maintaining a reasonable standard. I watched the last two matches of the previous edition of this trophy (in Singapore), so am pleased that we beat China with greater ease this time, and only narrowly lost the final to the host team.

Thankfully the poor round came on Saturday, and after he made the cut (for a change relative to recent performances).

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

This has been the wrist-spinners' IPL. Rashid Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Piyush Chawla, Amit Mishra, Sandeep Lamichhane, Imran Tahir (occasionally) have been the undoubted bowling star. Wrist spin is back big time!

Re: India in England, 2018

Pujara finally got runs, making 73 in a one-day match against Warwickshire at Leeds. He was slow, taking 96 balls to make his runs; his strike-rate was 76.04, versus a team strike rate of 82.33 but presumably he isn't expected to be the team's accelerator. He was the sheet anchor and top-scorer in t...

Yes, they will definitely be able to play the Wimbledon qualifiers. Playing the grass challengers makes perfect sense, and I think they have a very good chance of making the main draw.

Re: Ankita Raina thread

What a wonderful article, and a heartening and heart-warming story. Go Ankita! I'm sure she'll make her presence felt at Roland Garros from Tuesday onwards.

Re: Yuki Bhambri

The good news is that Yuki is 6th on the alternates list for s'Hertogenbosch on grass -- the same week as Stuttgart. He was ranked 85 at the time this entry list was prepared, so there is a good chance he will make it into the main draw. Ahead of him are Jaziri, Baghdatis, Ebden, Karlovic and Pospis...

Re: India in England, 2018

Ishant had the best strike rate with the bat (7* in 2 balls) and economy rate with the ball (1/39 off 9.2 overs) for Sussex, but couldn't prevent Hampshire winning a close one-day match.

Geneva too is a few (4 or so) hours drive from Paris. (I have actually done that drive once from Charles de Gaulle airport to Geneva). There was no earthly excuse for Yuki to not play in either Geneva or Lyon.

Re: French Open 2018

The French Open qualifying rounds begin on Monday for the men (Ramkumar, Prajnesh and hopefully Sumit). Ramkumar will be seeded 13th, so barring surprises he is expected to make it into the main draw!

The women begin on Tuesday, so hopefully Ankita is there now and practicing hard on the clay courts.

Re: Prarthana Thombare thread

She has support of the Sania Mirza Tennis Academy, which may be why she is able to pick up so many good partners. But she really needs to figure out how to stop losing!

Re: $75K(+H) Karshi/Samarkand Challengers, May 7-20 2018

Congratulations to Vishnu/Balaji for yet another Challenger title. Balaji rises to a career-high of 104 in the live doubles rankings, and Vishnu is at 100 (just shy of his career-high of 99).
