Re: Grass tournaments (Challengers & ATP/WTA tour) 2019

Strange match from Prajnesh. Did he tank the second set in order to come back stronger for the third? Five-setters are likely to be challenging for him, but let’s hope he gets a good draw at Wimbledon.

Re: Wimbledon 2019

Nice and easy win for Ankita. And she plays the former Wimbledon finalist in Q2 in what will surely be a blockbuster match.

Re: Grass tournaments (Challengers & ATP/WTA tour) 2019

Lorenzo Sonego, his R2 opponent (I instinctively wrote "Q2"...then corrected myself; it is wonderful that he's playing in R2 of the main draw of an ATP tournament again...) is a clay courter who has lost several R1 or Q1 matches on grass this year. (But he will be consoling himself that that is true...

Re: Wimbledon 2019

Ankita plays Cagla Buyukakcay of Turkey in Q1. Great! Ankita has a 2-0 record against her, having beaten her most recently at the the Singapore ITF on he way to the title!

Wimbledon 2019

[Q1] Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND, 154) d. Lukas Lacko (SVK, 144) 63 62 What a win! Lacko beat Dustin Brown (the grass monster) at Surbiton, where he made the QF this year, so he was in excellent grass-court form. But Ramkumar is a serious professional; after his disappointing results on grass, he decid...

Terrific victory for Prajnesh Gunneswaran over the former world #8. That he bagelled him in the first set was especially impressive!

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup

Both the big grass court titles last week -- at Halle and Queen's Club -- were won by 37 year olds! And in fact, Feliciano Lopez went one better by winning a double crown at Queens (partnering Andy Murray to the doubles title, after beating Gilles Simon for the singles title).

Re: Wimbledon 2019

Saketh has a REALLY tough draw, with Lukas Rosol in Q2 and Yuichi Sugita possibly in Q3. Ramkumar has a tough one first up against Lukas Lacko, who has beaten Dustin Brown (one of the greatest grass Challenger players ever) at Surbiton this year. But after that, it gets easier if Ramkumar can pull t...

Re: Grass tournaments (Challengers & ATP/WTA tour) 2019

That was an amazing achievement at the peak of Tipsarevic's career. A reminder that Somdev carried on our tradition of punching above our rankings in the Davis Cup (and in India colours generally).

Re: World Cup 2019

My attitude to Football (except the occasional Team India match or ISL fixture)! Same here. I cannot get excited about EPL and all the European football, even if it is all players from around the world playing. I only follow the Indian team and the World Cup. :Offtopic: Surprised by that, Jay! I al...
