Re: India in West Indies 2019

What a match for Rahane: 81 and 90*!

Vihari too has cemented his place.

Meanwhile, Karun Nair (the forgotten man) has piled on the runs in the Duleep Trophy.

Re: BWF World Championships 2019

I’ve watched the video of JanaGanaMana playing with Pusarla V Sindhu atop the winner’s stand at least 20 times already. Just want to hit the auto-redial button and keep watching it!!

Re: US Open 2019

I posted about that quite awhile ago, within a few minutes of the draw! That’s the last Slam in which two Indians played in the main draw. But this is the first US Open since 1985 in which two Indians are playing in the main draw. US Open!!

Re: BWF World Championships 2019

The greatest Indian sportswoman of all time?

What a dominant win. Five world championship medals — 2 bronze, 2 silver and now 1 gold. She is an absolute legend who knows how to peak at the right time. Wow  :notworthy:

Re: Sumit Nagal thread

Yes, Sumit is younger (22 years and a week) than Yuki was (22 years and 6+ months) when he qualified for the AO in 2015 for the first time. Slightly older than Leander was (21) when he first qualified for the US Open in 1994 (a full quarter-century ago). Ramesh Krishnan was 18 when he qualified into...

Re: Indian domestic cricket/ players

Murali Vijay will be signing up with Somerset soon in order to help that county chase the county championship; they are second in the table at the moment.

Re: India in West Indies 2019

Spin will be crucial in the second innings. We’ll miss Ashwin.

The Mayank LBW “looked plumb” to the commentators too until they saw the replay — and Rahul advised against reviewing it :(

Re: US Open 2019

This is the first time in 34 years that two Indians are in the main draw of the US Open. This time, though, both will play on show courts on the first day!

Re: US Open 2019

Wouldn’t that be great? Federer’s career book-ended with a loss to Leander near its start and then to Sumit near its end!! Federer lost in the first round last year, and he does struggle against players he knows nothing about. Remember how Lloyd Harris took a set off Federer on the Centre Court at W...

Re: US Open 2019

The first time two Indian citizens are in the main draw of a Slam since Wimbledon 1998 (Leander and Mahesh). Ramesh was 18 when he first qualified for Wimbledon (1979), as was Vijay (1972). Ramanathan Krishnan was 16 when he qualified for Wimbledon in 1953! But that was a different era. Sumit is the...

Re: US Open 2019

Fabulous stuff from Sumit Nagal!! That makes him the youngest Indian to make the USO main draw in 25 years — Leander first qualified when he was 21 (in 1994). In fact, the youngest Indian to make a Slam main draw in 25 years. Yuki was 22 years and 6 months old when he made the AO main draw in 2015....

Re: India in West Indies 2019

Terrific day for Ishant Sharma, with a superb bowling spell at the end of the day complementing his opening spell — but also a wonderfully gritty effort with the bat in the morning.
