Re: BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals

Experience. Badminton always has close games at this level. As does TT, etc. All of these guys have been in such pressure-cooker situations for several years now.

Re: French Open 2022

What is his record when he was fit at the FO? I think the odds are overwhelming that he would not have made it into the main draw even if he played a few matches. Clay is also gruelling in that the rallies are much longer. His body was perhaps not ready. I think he did the right thing.

Re: India in England, summer of 2021

I have ambivalence about Kohli’s captaincy. Every human being is flawed. He has his plusses along with his minusses. I think the plusses are more in my book. But, that is a very subjective statement and reasonable people may differ. I am worried that the intensity with which he plays is actually no...

This is ageing well, isn't it?
Yep! Hats off! :bounce: To the team. And, to the ornate brute!!!

Hmm. So, she is not in the pool. Thanks for setting the record straight. I must say that the pool is then quire narrow and more people should be monitored. Maybe we do not have the money to do so?

He is going into the FO just to earn money. Not that I am criticizing that. He perhaps only cares about the hard court season.

Re: BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals

Then there is Momota, Ginting, and GZL. You are saying in the last year Lakshya has performed better than them? I know he beat GZL but don't know if he can consistently beat the likes of these. And, if Chen Long were to play a full schedule he would be worse?

Re: BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals

That's not true actually. Lakshya Sen would be #3 and LZJ #2 if the BWF rankings weren't frozen. LS hadn't faced CTC before, but his loss against him yesterday was surprising. LZJ is in great form and hasn't lost a match since the All England SF (where he lost closely against LS only). So, you are ...

Re: BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals

Yes, our #2 pair is low in pecking order but not our #1 singles. Lakshya Sen lost to world #4 and #6 in last 2 matches while Srikanth beat those outside top 15 while Prannoy beat those ranked those outside top 40. They got easier opponents because Lakshya has moved up in rankings. True. But, your c...

Re: BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals

Funny, we do not have great doubles depth. But, we have singles depth. Our singles #1 seems to be somewhat low in the pecking order as is our #2 doubles pair.

The Indian bowling leaders (qual:10 wickets, by average): Mohsin Khan 10.9@5.19, Chahal 15.7@7.5, Khaleel 15.5@7.75, Nata 17.82@8.65, Avesh 18.25@7.96, Umesh 19.06@7.15, Kuldeep 20.66@8.71. Interestingly, three left-handed pacers here. Shows that Indians largely have a weakness against left-armers. ...

Phenomenal. But effectively in the second division though.
