Which IPL success but domestic mediocre player succeeded? Maybe we have not given them enough chances and cannot say for sure. But, pushing SkAY into the test and ODI teams resulted in abject failure.
Pant is the only batsman who has the technique and hand-eye coordination to be able to bat when ...

Re: India tests in England 2025
I would. But, this has been the reality for many years. The Ranji Trophy players have to go miles before they are recognized.
Why has Padikkal played tests? His Ranji record is poor.
Why is Sudarshan being thrust into the conversation? IPL.
Why did SkAY play ODIs and even a test I think? IPL ...

Re: India tests in England 2025
I think if we have a batting lineup of
Yashasvi, Rahul, Gill, Pant, Sarfaraz, Jurel, Reddy, Jadeja, Shami, Bumrah, Siraj
that will be a good fighting 11. Alternatively, I think the selectors will choose:
Yashasvi, Sudarshan, Gill, Pant, Rahul, Jurel, Reddy, Jadeja, Akashdeep, Bumrah, Siraj/Mukesh ...

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)
I would swap the batting order of Rahul and Sai. Rahul is lousy in seeing off the new ball. Is Sai also bad? Then, I suppose we are choosing between tweedle dum and tweedle dee.

Re: Anahat Singh- New sensation
Both men and women. Perhaps women dominate a bit more. The top two men are Egyptian, the top three women so. Then, in the top-20, there are 9 Egyptian men and in the women's side top 10. So, the women only slightly more dominating. But, nevertheless the main point that beating Egyptians in squash ...

West Indies used to be piddly islands but mighty in the field until the '80s. Whether an island is small or not does not matter. It is what you do on the field.
That said, I am totally against their managing to get the WTCs every time due to calendar issues. Jay Shah needs to change that.

Re: India tests in England 2025
Rahane and Kohli were in decline for a long time. We can add a +3 to their averages due to pitch adjustments. Teams score about 30 runs less these days the last time I checked. There is no article that points out how bad Kohli has been for a while except fleetingly talking about the last time he ...

Agree fully Kumar.
BTW, Kaif and all these people who are crying over Kohli: I am a Kohli fan but he has been an embarassment in the last few years. Here is what he has done.
Last year: 10 tests, average 22.47 - an allrounder would say they had a poor year if they batted so, leave aside a main ...

Re: India's Dream Cricket Test Team
Having Kapil does not help. So, one of them need to be moved down. Kapil influences things in the sense that Kapil is the fifth bowler and we don't really need a sixth bowler in tests. So, Hazare's bowling is superflous in the first XI. Then, the choice of Kohli and Hazare comes to Hazare if we ...

Re: India's Dream Cricket Test Team
As only one of Kohli and Hazare will be selected so other should be part of the 2nd XI. Also same debate can be there for Umrigar vs Vengsarkar. Though I would have gone for Vishwanath over them.
For the first XI, yes. Because Kapil is there and if we want to play five bowlers. In some cases, we ...

Re: Indo-Pak issues, terrorism, Kashmir, etc.
Why would Pakistan break up if their nuclear command center is blown up? Sorry, I do not follow international politics that much. To keep say Baluchistan in order, they do not really need nuclear bombs, which they would not use on Baluchistan anyway. They need a strong internal police force or even ...

Re: India tests in England 2025
It is quite a perverse logic to say Pant has not had a good IPL. So, he should be dropped in tests. But, people who failed in tests, Kohli, Gill, Rahul should be chosen for England. I understand that that is how our idiotic selectors work. But, just calling it out. I think Gill will be made captain ...

Re: India tests in England 2025
Pant has never been impressive in T20Is. If we are playing so many dismal failures in our test team regularly, Pant should be the last or the second last person after Yashasvi whom we should think about dropping. If I recall correctly, he was the second best among regular bats. Yashasvi and Reddy ...

Re: India tests in England 2025
After Bumrah, Shami, Siraj, our proven customers are Mukesh and Akash Deep - both can swing the ball. However, Gambhir is high on Harshit Rana and PK has excelled in the IPL. So, it is a bit unclear who they will call upon.
No going back to the renegades. Rahane was awfully inconsistent and overall ...

Re: India's Dream Cricket Test Team
Rohit retired and stopped his slide down. Was in danger of going under 40. Kohli is firmly under 47 now.
So, our top XI:
Gavaskar, Sehwag, Dravid, Tendulkar, Kohli/Hazare, Pant, Kapil, ...
Hazare played much fewer tests. So, it is difficult to choose him vs Kohli although Hazare performed better ...
