Re: Paris Olympics 2024

And, with our yoga genes, things that require flexibility should at least give us some brownie points. :-)

Re: Miami Masters 2024

What are the odds that Bopanna will still be playing doubles professionally when he is 74? Are they takng bets on that? Or triples if you will with players allowed to use a cane in one hand and racquet in the other. 3 legs therefore triples. LP went up to what? 47? So, Bopanna is shooting for 50, wi...

Re: Football: Indian National Team news ...

I did not mean to imply in any way Stimac is the problem. Our system is the problem. We should loosen the protectionism with respect to selecting at least some PIOs, NRIs or whatever we call them. This will bootstart the system and give us a jump. Then, when our domestic football improves, we can br...

Re: Football: Indian National Team news ...

There is no reason to shut it down. It exists. People play. Let it be. We need to figure out what targeted things we can do to improve our football team . Maybe start with why Afghans can find places in Europe to play and are able to draw with us but with a bigger population (even if we discount the...

Re: Football: Indian National Team news ...

We need to remove the number of foreigner quota and instead have a strict quota that no team can play a foreigner in the striker position. Teams will game this but the AIFF can decide if a player is playing as a striker or not. Or the other way would be to institute a quota that every team must play...

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

The selectors were fine. Just saying nonsense does not make it so. The only keeper who has scored more runs than him and is faster while keeping is KL Rahul. Dhoni scored runs but he was slower. We have not had a keeper who can hit hard in T20Is and can score some runs. Why pick on him when all our ...

Re: T20 World Cup, Canada, USA 2024

Well, it is indeed idiotic and must be very painful to be unable to point to a single domestic failure who has won a WC, leave aside a team made of domestic failures, and still argue some nonsense they create themselves. None of the nonsense above that you create yourself and argue against I have ev...

Re: Fake news and social media in India

Nothing specific per se. However, I believe about half or 40% of India uses WhatsApp, which is higher than many of the bigger countries, at least. On WhatsApp things are encrypted and the propagation of fake news is hard to detect and flag. Not that we are doing a great job in countries where fake n...

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

After Dhir shows he can do things a bit more consistently. :-) BTW, I think any donkey can keep in T20Is. Prabhsimran is not a great keeper but can do the job. Batting wins matches. If we can have seven batters who can build a wall that does not fail on an odd day, with Bumrah, Kuldeep, etc. we can ...

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

Fantastic inning by Kohli and icing on the cake by Karthik. Rawat played badly today with the bat. Prabhsimran did great. Jitesh was fine too but a tad slow. All these are, of course, in one game. As the Rawat case shows, you can do great on one game and badly the other. They are all human after all...

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

Harshit Rana bowled a super over. Saved KKR. Hooda, Bumrah, Natarajan, Samson, Kuldeep, Rawat, Abhisekh Porel, Mohit, Arshdeep, and Ramandeep Singh had a good game. Hope some of the younger ones can do this match after match and emerge. Porel is the Bengal keeper and a hard-hitting batter. 21 years ...

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

By the way, i like the rule of two bouncers in one over. Will make it tough for Shreyas Iyers of the world. I like two bouncers in one over. However, any bouncer aimed at a batsman's body should be a no ball. In my eyes, trying to hit a person physically or intimidating them of bodily injury is not...

The wickcet-keeper who did the best is Samson. But this is one round and he has a bunch of failures in his T20I matches.

Re: WTA Tour/Non-India Fed Cup

I read fallen off the balcony while drunk. But, the police seemed to tag it suicide. Then, jumping off the balcony would be more like it. But, maybe the police is not sure and made the more polite call? Anyway, tragic. When I first heard it, I thought that it is yet another CTE case. But, seems like...
