Re: Australian open 2019

Tiafoe, after his win against dmitrov, said these parting words “Nadal better get ready...”.. not a great idea to wave a red cape in front of a raging Spanish bull!!😋

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread

Gunner's honest opinion about India's bad Tennis infrastructure was noticed by Tsitsipas who related it with his situation and mentioned it in his press conference yesterday . I saw one of the interviews that Gunneswaran gave a few days ago, the Indian guy, saying even if he does well it's not goin...

Re: India ITF Junior Circuit January 2019

This seems to validate one of my earlier observations that Indian Juniors seem to take longer to develop compared to their international peers. Overall the Indian player peaks at a later stage - in their mid to late 20’s compared to other international players. Vijay Amritraj also made a similar obs...

Re: Australian open 2019

Thanks jay. I did read your comments in the Sabarimala thread and replied there. I need to be careful about confusing my expectations and hopes of how India can be with the way things really are.

Re: God in trouble in God's own country... Sabarimala

Jay, perhaps i was overly simplistic about my assertion that the Indian state respects all religions equally. In practice, what i said in my view is more representative of the United States than India in my view. I agree that the so-called leftists in India have, especially with the Sabarimala case,...

Re: Australian open 2019

Um, there's a plethora of sportspeople married to other nationalities and the thought of switching allegiance doesn't enter their mind... True....however in the case of India and Pakistan, my perspective is a bit different. I’m aware that at a people-to-people level, it is easy for me to see how ma...

Re: Australian open 2019

Maybe Sania may want to play with Quraishi and win mxd for Pakistan we dont know. You don't know? Then you don't say. Just because one has the right to express, doesn't mean it necessarily has be the clichéd trash. If that was meant to be for fun, then it clearly wasn't funny. 🙄 Yeah...well...too b...

Re: Australian open 2019

Yes, I also do care for it as it counts for a medal at the olympics ( and Asiad). A medal in doubles is of as much value as a medal in singles. In that way, I would be also interested in mixed doubles if there is an all Indian pair as mixed doubles is also an olympic medal. True. Just that Olympics...

Re: Australian open 2019

Doubles is key for us to have any chances at all in Davis Cup. It is Mahesh's responsibility to build that pipeline along with Rohan. They should be aware that Rohan can only keep going for so long. I disagree that Divij is a poor partner for Rohan. If they are having problems in Divij's serve games...

Re: Prajnesh Gunneswaran thread

This may be a smart choice for development reasons as well. Playing more matches where he can experiment with his more aggressive shots will probably help him at the ATP level later. Right now, he could be one-and-done at the ATP level if he experiments in those tournaments as we saw in the Pune an...

Sumit's career is going nowhere.
It is going somewhere. Sadly that is downhill.
He 1s 21 now and should be peaking in another year. Hopefully his coaching issue is settled now. 2019 is when he should be moving up. Our pipeline for India DC is starting to crater.

Re: Australian open 2019

I got to see most all of the first set. My observations overall proved out - his best chance was to grab that first set but he blew it with that bad overhead miss. After that it was all downhill - but this is his first GS main draw match and hopefully it gets better from here. He must have got the f...

Re: Australian open 2019

Jim Courier on Tennis Channel just called the Tiafoe vs Gunner match as a “guaranteed win” for Tiafoe. This is aimed at Tiafoe - because he will listen to Jim since he influences Davis Cup and if Tiafoe loses here it will not look good for JIm and Tiafoe. Of course I hope that the Gunner proves Jim ...
