Re: North American ATP tournaments Feb-March 2018

Yes, I watched his match against Fratengelo. RamK was playing so many low slices on the backhand side which totally disturbed the rhythm of Fratengelo and he was overhitting a lot of shots. Also RamK's big serve and net game played it's part. Many of the present day ATP players are not ready for th...

Re: $50K(+H) Chennai Challenger, 12-18 Feb. 2018

In the preliminary rounds, there were many a occasions when Yuki wriggled out of the trouble only to come back strongly to ascertain himself , And this is a new trait seen in him , So with this new found approach Yuki seems to be favourite to lift the crown and burst into Top 100 once again This is...

Re: Fed Cup Thread for India ..

They all look stunningly beautiful. I am glad they are not wearing a team outfit because they in their choice of dresses they have represented India better than any team outfit ever could. Agreed. I am all for the ladies choosing to wear traditional Indian dress rather than some drab uniform. They ...

Dallas 2018 Challenger at TBarM is completely sold out (has been for the past 4 days) - Nishikori has been a huge draw here as well.

Re: Davis Cup 2018 - India

One of the best doubles wins we have in recent years was the 2014 win over Serbia, when Bopanna-Paes beat Zimonjic-Bozoljac in a 5-setter (8-6 in the fifth). That was against a world-class pairing, and a really big win. With Mahesh as captain, two things are clear: Rohan will be in the team, and Le...

Re: $50K(+H) Chennai Challenger, 12-18 Feb. 2018

31 year old Granollers is playing Challengers in a bid to get back to the top 100 in singles, it seems. He won two Thai Challengers this month, but didn’t play the AO qualifiers. He will be formidable if he comes to Chennai. Now ranked 133. Good for our guys to be playing these guys hovering around...

Prof, you shouldn’t take Saniapower seriously. He aims to provoke. One loss doesn’t negate the huge progress Karman has made in the past year.

Re: US Challengers, Jan-Feb. 2018

There are 3 big challengers in next 3 weeks in US, $150K(+H) in Newport this week, $125K in Dallas next week and $100K in n Francisvo the week after. Jeevan and Leander are playing this week with their respective partners. It is likely that they will play here for all 3 weeks. I guess Purav may joi...

.....In badminton, Gopichand and Prakash had world-class achievements, so they were a bit more able to gather in the sponsors. In tennis, AITA has been awful and hasn't helped the players ever; but with the exception of Sania (who found GVK before GVK became a household name in national infrastruct...

Re: Australian Open 2018

Then Yuki should apply to Jet Airways or Air India for free travel. Both these airlines, if we count their partner airlines have good network outside India. It would save him a lot of money. If only it was so easy. I think it's all about who you know and having the right connections. Unfortunately,...

Re: Australian Open 2018

Tennys Sandgren has actually only become "pretty darn good" in the past half year -- well after he had turned 26. He had never been ranked in the top-100 before October 2017. So he was a pure, classic Challenger journeyman throughout his career until that point. He is now in a purple patch, that re...

Re: Australian Open 2018

The day I landed in Pune for the Maharashtra Open and headed to the stadium, I saw Tennis Sandgren practising with Yuki on the centre court. Yuki was comfortably overpowering Sandgren in the rallies. Astonishing how much difference a decent first serve makes in the men's game today! To me Yuki is a...

Re: Australian Open 2018

The story of Tennys Sandgren, the classic Challenger-level journeyman, making it to the last-16 at the AO (having never before qualified), has to be an inspirational one for the likes of Yuki and RamK. He is still ahead against Thiem as I write. (So RamK isn’t the only Challenger player capable of ...
