Re: ITF W60/W25 N.America, Jun/Jul 2023
At the Dallas W60 (Hard): [Q1] (8) Sahaja Yamalapalli (IND) vs (WC) Ellie Douglas (USA,NR) Ellie was ranked at a career high of #319 just a year ago in July but is unranked now. Not sure what her story is... A Q1 loss last weekend at Evansville was her first match in a year. I assume she was injure...

Re: European Challengers 2023
Another way to look at it is that our guys get to play someone at a far higher level - if they are smart they will assess where they need to improve and work on a plan - if they are focused on their career that is.

Re: Wimbledon 2023
Yes, serve proved to be decisive here, 13 aces by the Brit and 2 double faults against that 2 aces and 8 doubles faults by Manas. So, in serve only points, the Brit was +17 and total point difference was 19 points. So, when the ball was in play it was a pretty even match. [R2] (Q) Manas Dhamne (IND...

Re: Wimbledon 2023
In H Searle, I’m seeing an opponent who is 2 years older at 17 and already 6’ 4”” tall. He’s doing well to stay at 4-5 second set. He may lose but he has done well in set 2.

I’m seeing a good fight in set 2. I have great vibes about this kid - a good serve coach will do wonders for his game. Where does he play next after Wimbledon?

Re: Jakarta Men's ITFs 2023
RamK is facing a crisis it looks like. I think it is his personal life and unless that crisis is addressed the tennis can’t be addressed. He has to find a girl, get married to a girl who is willing to support his continu8ng to play on the tour. Finding such a girl is tough these days - you have to g...

By the way, Rithvik Bollipalli (age 22) has now gone up to a career high live ranking around 260. Along with Rithvik and Anirudh Chandrasekar (age 24), Parikshit Somani (age 23) and now Sai Karteek Ganta (22) are two more guys under age 25 who are making some moves up the doubles ladder. Then there...

Re: Billie Jean King Cup (previously Fed Cup) - India
Sometimes I wonder what makes these guys - Khanna and others like Anil Dhupar stick around as controlling AITA at a time when Indian davis cup team is down to group 2 and no Indian man is in top 300. No immediate prospect of we getting any better soon. Is it not evident that it needs organizational...

Mukund goes down against Donskoy . [SF] (5) Sasikumar Mukund (IND,401) l. (3) -Evgeny Donskoy (RUS,302) 67(4) 57 He just did not have the consistency in his game to overcome Donskoy. Against these challenger level player such as Donskoy, Mukund needs to have his serve game at the top as his ground ...

Re: ITF M25/M15 India- March/April 2023
Thanks for your thoughts, Prof. From what I observed while watching last week's SFs, Donskoy's stroke-making (power and accuracy of ground strokes) was a clear notch or two above the other 3 semifinalists, so I wasn't at all surprised that he won. Karan is a tall lad (who I spoke to briefly), but i...

Re: ITF M25/M15 India- March/April 2023
Watched the Karan Singh match. This was definitely winnable for him. He didn't get to the net even once in set 1 except to flub a sitter volley at set point to give up the set. That got him down and he lost his service game right away - this shows inexperience more than anything else. I guess the &q...

Thanks jay. I haven’t watched Karan Singh before, I’ll take a closer look. I hope Zeeshan is not his coach - he can ruin it for him.

Re: European Challengers 2023
These kind of losses by RamK really baffle me. How does his level drop so much ? I mean at the start of the year, he had 2 wins over players ranked 153 and 175 and a close 3 set loss over player ranked 62 at Pune ATP. Then, he had 3 losees against players ranked 219,196 and 285 in Indian challenger...
