Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

Should hospitals continue to practice isolation for covid patients and not allow attendants? The govt hospitals in chennai allowed attendant the past two years, while private hospitals continue to isolate patients from their family. If a single family member is willing to take a risk and even sleep ...

Re: India in South Africa, 2021-22

Why not Bumrah as captain ahead of Pant ? Just because he is a bowler and not a batsman ? They have similar level of experience and somehow Bumrah seems to have more cricketing intelligence than Pant though I maybe wrong here. Bumrah has fitness concerns. We have the following regulars in our team ...

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup

French open announced vaccine mandate for participation in french open. Essentially this just makes Wimbledon the only grand slam he can participate, unless he decides to get jabbed. Serbia can issue a vaccine certificate if needed ;) https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/sports/no-vaccine-no-french-ope...

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

China is claiming that a person got omicron after handling an infected package from abroad. We stopped disinfecting or even keeping items in sun after the first few month. Amazing that china can continue to go to such length to maintain zero covid. https://www.yahoo.com/news/chinas-claim-beijing-man-...

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

Considering the holidays (pongal and sankranthi), our relatively low numbers are not surprising. We will see a big jump tomorrow probably around 325 or even 350k.

Re: India in South Africa, 2021-22

I am so disappointed that Kohli has stepped down. I have been the biggest detractor of Kohlii’s captaincy, and even advocated for Rahane to take over after Australia series.i have to say that Kohli has been the best test captain for india. There is no doubt. I think Rahane would have been a good cho...

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

I am hearing about people with symptoms left and right from Chennai, with very few getting tested Hospitalization will start becoming key as case numbers will start going down or plateau as people are not getting tested. Does TN or chennai have hospitalization stats? We will have to wait for TPR to ...

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

^^^ Just heard that the good doctor passed away. Relentless, this virus :( ... They think he had Delta itself, and not Omicron, but that is a guess. Sorry to hear that. Loss of smell and taste is more likely delta . Maharashtra reported 42642 and they reported 3743 reconciliation. Can we reach 300k...

Re: Australian Open 2022

I am not convinced that recommendation of booster 5 months after second shot. I have heard of so many people getting covid one month after booster. When u bring that up, they say the purpose of booster is to prevent severe covid. Lot of booster shots recommendations is based on lab antibody results....

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

. But I just heard that the husband of a close cousin of my wife's, is in critical condition in Karnataka. He is a doctor in his 70s. He has heart and kidney issues, and had a severe reaction to the first dose of vaccine, that required hospitalization then. So he had not taken a second dose. Looks ...

Re: Australian Open 2022

Vaccine mandates have never been implemented in any pandemic throughout history. This is the first time that mandates are being considered, and it is not appropriate to simply conclude that imposing mandates are the way to go, given that these vaccines and their efficacy are still in doubt. Especia...

Re: Australian Open 2022

By the way, CDC requires all non citizens to be vaccinated as well. So Djokovic may not be able to play Us open. His only option would be french and British open (where he has to quarantine or participate in test to release scheme)

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

I was talking to friends and families in India. Out of three families that are showing covid symptoms, only one of them tested. Others are self isolating and not reporting. In fact a person who was asymptomatic during delta got covid this time . He had more symptoms this time around. So essentially ...

Re: India in South Africa, 2021-22

The problem is pretty much except for Kohli, no one Is in form. Pant sowed up in last match. My respect for Kohli is actually more after this test series. If he had just shown a little patience and let Pant score runs, we may have had a fighting chance. We will probably loose the last test in englan...

Re: Coronavirus SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19)

By the way, very balanced article questioning need for boosters for teenagers!

https://www.medpagetoday.com/publicheal ... licy/96635

The article goes onto claim that Omicron may be less contagious but appears to have ability to evade immunity resulting in much higher case numbers.
