^^^ Correct. He did not tell me that he’s a doubles specialist. It’s my own assessment based on his game, playing activity, age, and aspirations which can be deduced from observing certain factors. Someone who’s 28yo and has never reached the top-500 in the singles chart, and doesn’t travel week in,...
Niki is a doubles specialist, so I’m actually surprised that he’s playing this tougher US M15 ITF series despite having the ranking to enter CH doubles draws. He also skipped the doubles event this week.
Not every loss involving an Indian has to do with injury, so no this was not an injury-related loss. I watched the match and Niki was simply outplayed by the once second-ranked player (when he was 16yo) in the USA, Hanzlik. https://www.statepress.com/article/2022/04/asu-mens-tennis-cash-hanzlik-usta...
Ramkumar and veteran Zimonjic are putting a good fight against the 3rd seeds Brown/Sandkaulen at the Troisdorf CH. They lost the first set 6-4 and won the second set tiebreaker. Match TB to come.
So far, only one alt team has made it to the main draw of doubles. By the way, the mixed doubles draw is out and this is the first time I have not seen Bopanna’s name in the draw. No Indian interest there at this year’s RG.

Hesse is a mom now but that hasn’t stopped her from producing quality wins against the likes of Stefanini (#105), Paquet (#181), Robbe (#190) since her return after maternity break. I wouldn’t treat this as an easy match.
^^^ I was just about to post that, too. Was excited seeing Sahaja pulled that surprise one. IIRC Kulikova beat Raina in India last year. Good win (albeit serving 7 DFs!).
