Re: Japan/China/Korea Open September 2018

I wish they would have 16 seeds in badminton. WR 13 playing WR 11 and WR10 playing WR9 in the first round happens only in badminton.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi

After Karman won the first set, I was desperately hoping that she'd prove me wrong. She gave back a break in the second set and then Kuz must have been all over her. It must have been a great learning experience for Karman -- she shouldn't feel bad as she did something similar to Vekic in the Washin...

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi

Swetlana is 33 now but still reached Washington WTA final last month and also took a set off Venus Williams at US open. She did better than reaching the final. Svetlana won the Washington WTA beating Donna Vekic. I saw highlights of that match yesterday to see how she is playing. It is going to be ...

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi

[R1] (Q) Karman Thandi(IND, 210) vs (WC) Svetlana Kuznetsova(RUS, 110)

Possibly the toughest possible R1 matchup for Karman. Is she ready for Kuz? We'll find out tomorrow.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi

Potential R1 opponents for Karman:
Andrea Petkovic(85, GER), (WC)Svetlana Kuznetsova(110, RUS), (WC) XinYu Wang(349, CHN), (8) Saisai Zheng(70, CHN), Kateryna Kozlova(117, UKR), and (6) Viktoria Kuzmova(59, SVK).
So XinYu Wang would be the lowest ranked player that Karman can play in R1.

Re: Karman Kaur Thandi

Karman needs to tighten her game towards the end of matches. She should not have given up a break late in the third set.

Still, disappointing loss after a decent run in the last week.
Like we call Mukund, Sasi, we got to come up with a name when Sumit plays badly. How about Bagit?

Too bad. I thought that Prerna would win this match.

Re: $ 25K ITF Women Thailand, August 4-18, 2018

But this was very unfair on Zeel, as she had just played a 3 hour 32 minute match against Sowjanya, winning 62 16 76(3) Prerna's career-high ranking was 358 a couple of years ago, so her victory over the 20 year old top seed wasn't such a big upset. No PKB. The match between Zeel and Sowjanya was i...

Re: $ 25K ITF Women Thailand, August 4-18, 2018

Mixed day in Thailand. Zeel won her R2 match against Sowjanya in a tie-break but lost in the QF to a Thai player. Prerna defeated the top seed rather easiily 6-2 6-3 to reach the SF.

On the men's side KU lost to the top-seed in a tough three setter.

(Sorry for not posting scores in standard format.)

Re: $ 25K ITF Women Thailand, August 4-18, 2018

Natasha and Sai Samhita lost to the top seeds. Prerna took out Riya. Zeel and Sowjanya are in a dog fight with score at 6-1, 2-6, 5-6 (15-30) (Zeel serving) with the scoreboard showing that the match has been interrupted. So far, they have played for 3h 13m. On the men's side in Thailand, KU is the ...
