Re: Hockey World League (Men's and Women's)
Poor umpiring, that was a clean tackle from Manpreet but instead 10 mins ejection ... I also felt that was but the commentators gave an explanation saying that since its a slide tackle, it should be done without making any physical contact of the player, otherwise its a yellow card and since t...

Re: Misc. news about Indian hockey
Now that Mr Batra has become FIH president, the HI President has to be taken over by someone else.
Hope that helps in bringing in the required changes in terms of selection policy and also give a free hand to the coach

Re: Asian champions trophy
We have had some good players all along but as ssp had mentioned countless times, we seem too insistent on keeping sloths and non performers for too long a time hoping that they would get better

Re: Asian champions trophy
Would say Champions Trophy or World Hockey League final round is the worst where we have 8 teams into two groups and after a meaning less group stage we have quarter finals. Good thing is that was removed in this year CT in London and we still managed to reach finals which is where we deserved credi...

Re: Hockey at Rio Olympics
Whenever we have had good sides, we have done well against Australia even when we used to suck up against Holland and Germany. The last time we have had a good side was before 2004 when Dhanraj Pillay was part of our side. I still remember how Australian would shudder when Pillay was having the ball....

Re: Hockey at Rio Olympics
Actually even a 2-2 draw would have seen India through but it was a 1-1 draw. That's how close we got

Valancia Six Nation Cup, Spain
Next is six nation event where India play likes of Argentina,New Zealand,Germany,Spain and Ireland. I think more than losing to sides like Australia, its the performances against New Zealand and Argentina that has disappointed me the most. We tend to do well with top sides one day but mess up with th...

Re: Champions trophy Hockey 2016, London
Against Australia you have to play confidently.Australia generally applies high press which means that if you defend deep, you will be bullied to make wrong decisions. Having too many people deep leaves a lot of space in the midfield which they will exploit. In games like football you can get away b...

Re: Sultan Azlan Shah tournament
Australia have been good in turnovers. The moment they get the ball, they seem to be having the numbers for passing options required to help them get their players to scoring positions where they have people available to take shots even after it has been saved twice. Also when we go as a group and los...

Re: Hockey World League (Men's and Women's)
The kind of cards we got ensured that we cannot win.On the other Germany were quite lucky not toget yellow for the horrendous tackle they did at the end of the final quarter

Re: Misc. news about Indian hockey
Akashdeep somehow seems to be a very lucky player in the sense that whenever he scores India usually wins but the thing is that he rarely scores

We also have a test series coming up against Australia in Raipur in lead up to HWL finals
Ofcourse I guess that will be a short tour considering that it has been scheduled between Nov 19-23

Re: Misc. news about Indian hockey
While the decision to have Oltmans as top coach of the team was the best that could have been done considering the lunacy of HI, his role as technical director could have been important towards developing the system required for producing those top quality players in 4 year cycle. So not only has Ba...

Re: Misc. news about Indian hockey
Experience can help where people have corrected from their experiences. When you see some of the players mentioned by ssp who needs to be dropped, have they learnt from their past mistakes. Can you say anyone who is an improved player?.We can see a lot of instances where players have reached 100 cap...
