Re: Commonwealth Games, 2022

Prasen, boxing especially heavyweight professional boxing was the biggest entertainment event the world over- are you forgetting the likes of Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Mike Tyson and Rocky Marciano. The entire movie franchise Rocky was inspired by Rocky Marciano. And I guess Ali needs no introdu...

Re: Commonwealth Games, 2022

The rise in athletics is extremely pleasing. Looks like Neeraj Chopra's achievements can set of a revolution similar to wha...

Overall this Games is turning out to be below expectations. I don't expect any dramatic improvement.

Re: Commonwealth Games, 2022

Watched the hockey match yesterday. In the 4th quarter the much hyped team was playing like a club side. They were mis trapping, giving away free hits, committing unnecessary fouls and so on. Can't blame everything on the referee.

However they have revised Vijay down to 18 and credited Krishnan with the Canadian Open win in 1968 and Premjit Lall for reaching the Beckenham final in 1972.

Re: Commonwealth Games, 2022

Once you include sports like cycling and fencing the equation changes. Commonwealth Games is of really high standard. Even in badminton Malaysia, Singapore and England are pretty strong in their own right. Remember last time Srikanth lost to the legendary LCW and the current world champion is from S...

Maybe Sir Jadeja should be asked to change sports and partcipate in fencing. His sword celebration is the closest we have to demonstrating success in fencing. :D :p. His all-round credentails would be well established then. After all even Kapil Dev tried establishing himself in other sports playing ...

Arun Lal had almost single handedly won Bengal the Ranji Trophy in 1989-90 based on his mathematical ability to calculate quotients. This gave rise to a famous slogan- lal bangla lal e lal arun lal arun lal. That year a 17 year made his debut in first class cricket who later achieved a lot in cricke...
