Re: Tokyo Olympics 2020
You're right Orang. The country needs to have a focused fencing program like how the Brits did for Swimming and Cycling from 2 decades ago. This is one such sport which doesn't require as much genetic influence as athletics and swimming. As a layman, I also wonder if the strong and flexible wrists t...

Re: Tokyo Olympic 2020 - Hockey
Maybe they should give one referral every quarter and have a policy that it carries forward in the next quarter.. like in tennis where you an extra challenge which adds to the pre-existing challenges if they were successful. What does FIH have to lose if it makes the game more fair? Maybe Indian fed...

The number 1 seed Korean archer also lost to a 33rd seed German. Hope our athletes are watching. Tarundeep missed a fantastic opportunity to make a deep run. Our archers need to believe in themselves that they have what it takes. And stop hitting those 8s, let alone 7s.

Re: Tokyo Olympics 2020
I disagree that difference in sport somehow changes the perspective of our medal. I agree with Prasen on silver in any contest would be acceptable over a bronze in xyz sport. Japan won a gold in skateboarding yesterday, that gave them equal number of gold medals with China at end of day. Heck if we ...

Re: Tokyo Olympics 2020
The hype cycle seems to be onto it's next stage now. From peak of inflated expectations to trough of disillusionment. Hopefully the enlightenment stage comes sooner than later. 0 medals today and I don't expect a medal in shooting apart from the mixed event. If we can reach similar numbers to London...

Re: Tokyo Olympics 2020
We need more investment and structure for sports we don't have a footprint in yet. 49 medal events in Aquatics, 35 in Swimming but 2 in Artistic Swimming. Canoeing has 16, Cycling has 22, Judo has 15. Don't tell me we don't have what it takes in such sports. It has very less to do with genetics or h...

Re: Tokyo Olympics 2020
He was tied with the Korean but he managed to score 10.6 which took him 0.4 points ahead of the then 6th ranked Chinese player Zhang. But that 9 pointer in his final shot put him back to 7th. Had Saurabh managed even a 10.1 or further, he would have been in striking distance from the 4th placed play...

If everything goes by what's on paper, she'll face Yamaguchi in the quarters. The winner will likely face Ratchanok or Tai Tzu-Ying in the semis. The favorites in the other half include Yufei, Okuhara and An Se-Young. Sindhu has better H2H record against most of the players in the field, except for ...

Re: Tokyo Olympics 2020
@Rajiv, with the amount of money these doubles players got, our singles players should go all in on Asian Games, Davis Cup, Commonwealth. A gold medal at CWG can fetch hefty awards from their respective state govts as well. I am sure that's roughly how much they'd earn if they make it to main draw o...

Re: Tokyo Olympics 2020
The Indian tennis roller coaster ride at the Olympics continues, this time, a happier chapter with Sumit making it. I don't care how and why, Olympics is Olympics and it would make a huge difference for a youngster like Sumit to be there and what it means for all those who supported him. Virat Kohli...

Re: Sumit Nagal thread
Moneywise playing these ATP qualies is certainly proving to be beneficial for Sumit. ... Overall, in 3 weeks he got 17K+ Euros whereas at challenger level if he had played upto his ranking he would have got about 6K+ Euros but he would got 68 points instead of 22 which he got, which would have move...
